I must recognise that no single leader can do everything required for a growing church. When every responsibility depends on one person, the church becomes vulnerable.
The answer is not to abandon leadership. It is to develop more people who can serve faithfully.
The Multiplication Pattern
In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul instructs Timothy to entrust what he has learned to faithful people who will be able to teach others. Paul teaches Timothy; Timothy trains faithful people; those people teach others. The work continues because truth and responsibility are passed on.
What I Can Pass On
If I have learned how to pray with others, I can encourage someone to grow in prayer. If I have experience in a ministry department, I can help train another worker. If I have learned to disciple a new believer, I can help someone develop that skill.
Healthy leaders teach, model, train, delegate suitable responsibilities, provide feedback and prepare others to multiply the work.
My Reflection
Is my growth helping anyone else grow? Am I keeping everything to myself because I think nobody else can do it properly? Am I preparing others to carry responsibilities I currently handle?
My growth must not end with me. What I learn should help someone else grow.
