A first-time visitor may remember the sermon, but they will also remember whether anyone noticed them, answered their questions, and helped them feel welcome. Church follow-up is not a sales tactic. It is an expression of care.
Ask permission and respect privacy
When a visitor shares contact details, explain how you may follow up. Send a brief message thanking them for coming. Avoid adding them to multiple groups or repeatedly calling when they have not responded.
Make the next step clear
Offer one simple option: another service, a Bible study, a small group, or a conversation with a ministry leader. Ask whether they have questions or need practical information. Do not pressure them to make a commitment before they are ready.
Build a reliable system
- Record the visitor’s name and preferred contact method securely.
- Assign one person to follow up within 24 hours.
- Record whether contact was made and any requested next step.
- If there is no reply, give space and try once more later, respectfully.
- Review follow-up each week so no one is forgotten.
Prayer
Lord, help us welcome people with genuine love. Give us wisdom to follow up respectfully and build a church where people can grow in Christ. Amen.
Action: Review your last service’s visitor list and make sure every person who welcomed contact has received a personal message.
Visit Body of Christ International Church. Our main service begins at 10AM at Mount Zion, Corner Crowborough Way and Muonde, next to Mhuriimwe Secondary, Harare.
