“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” (Psalm 122:1). That gladness is the heart of this invitation. Church isn’t a duty we carry. It’s a house we run toward.

Why We Gather
God designed His people to walk together. “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another” (Hebrews 10:24-25). Your faith grows faster in a family than it ever will alone.
And when we gather, we don’t gather by ourselves. Jesus promised, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). He shows up. Every Sunday, He shows up.
What to Expect
Worship, the Word and prayer. That’s the pattern of the early church, and it’s ours too. “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42).
We’ll lift our voices together. “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing” (Psalm 100:1-2). We’ll worship “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). We’ll open the Scriptures, because “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). And we’ll pray, bringing everything to a Father who listens (Philippians 4:6).
Come As You Are
You don’t need to have it all together. You don’t need the right words or the right clothes. Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). And Paul wrote, “Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God” (Romans 15:7). Whatever you’re carrying, bring it. You’ll be received.
Bring Someone With You
When Philip met Nathanael, he didn’t argue. He simply said, “Come and see” (John 1:46). That’s all we’re asking. Bring a family member, a neighbour, a friend. The master in Jesus’ parable said, “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled” (Luke 14:23). There’s room for everyone.
