Many people ask, โWhat is my purpose?โ We can easily measure life by career, income, recognition or achievements. These things may matter, but Scripture points us towards a life that honours God and serves others.
โFor we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…โ โ Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
Purpose begins with belonging to God
Your worth is not determined by your job title, income or public recognition. In Christ, you are invited into a relationship with God and a life shaped by His grace. Good works do not earn salvation; they are a response to the grace we have received.
Look at the responsibilities around you
Purpose is not always discovered through one dramatic moment. Often it becomes clearer as we faithfully serve in ordinary places: caring for family, working honestly, helping a neighbour, developing a skill or encouraging someone who is struggling.
Use your gifts to serve
Notice what you can do, what needs exist around you and where trusted people see potential in you. Ask God for wisdom and be willing to learn. Your gifts may develop through training, practice and service over time.
Choose faithfulness over comparison
God has not asked you to copy another person’s calling. Focus on the responsibilities in front of you and take the next faithful step. Purpose grows as you love God and love your neighbour.
- Write down three responsibilities in your life.
- Identify one gift or skill you can use to help someone.
- Choose one practical act of service this week.
- Ask a mature Christian to help you reflect and grow.
