Have you ever wished you had people you could pray with, learn the Word of God with, and share life’s challenges with? Perhaps you’re looking for a church where you can grow spiritually, ask questions about your faith, and build meaningful Christian relationships.
You don’t have to walk your journey of faith alone. God created us for a relationship with Him and for meaningful relationships with others. Christian fellowship gives us an opportunity to worship together, encourage one another, learn God’s Word, and grow in our walk with Jesus Christ.
At Body of Christ International Church (BCICHURCH), we welcome you to become part of a community where you can pursue God, grow in faith, and discover the value of walking alongside other believers. If you’re in Domboshava or the surrounding communities, we’d love to welcome you.
1. What Does Christian Fellowship Really Mean?
Christian fellowship is more than attending a church service. It’s about sharing life with other believers as we grow together in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
โAnd they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.โ โ Acts 2:42 (KJV)
The early Christians learned God’s Word, prayed together, shared meals, and supported one another. Their faith wasn’t limited to what happened during a meeting. It influenced how they lived, how they treated others, and how they supported their community.
True fellowship brings people together around Jesus Christ. We gather to learn from one another, receive encouragement, serve others, and develop a deeper understanding of God’s Word. Church isn’t a gathering of people who have everything figured out. It’s a place where we can continue growing in faith.
2. Why Do We Need Fellowship?
Life comes with different seasons. There are moments when everything seems to be going well, and there are seasons when we face disappointment, uncertainty, family challenges, financial pressure, or spiritual struggles. Having a community of believers can make a meaningful difference.
Fellowship helps us grow spiritually
โIron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.โ โ Proverbs 27:17 (KJV)
Meaningful relationships can help us grow in wisdom, character, and faith. A fellow believer may share a Scripture that gives you a fresh perspective. A sermon may challenge you to change a habit. A conversation after church may help you understand a biblical principle more clearly.
Fellowship reminds us that we are not alone
โBear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.โ โ Galatians 6:2 (KJV)
Christian fellowship creates opportunities to support one another through prayer, encouragement, practical assistance, and genuine care. Sometimes you may need someone to pray with you. At other times, you may be in a position to encourage someone else. We give and receive support as we walk together in faith.
Fellowship strengthens our commitment to Christ
Hebrews 10:24โ25 reminds believers to encourage one another in love and good works and not to neglect gathering together. Regular fellowship helps us remain intentional about spiritual growth. We gather to worship, hear the Word, pray, and encourage others to keep going.
You don’t attend church because you are perfect. You gather because you want to keep growing in Christ.
3. You Don’t Have to Be Perfect to Fellowship With Us
One reason people hesitate to visit a church is that they feel they need to change everything about themselves before they come. Some feel ashamed of their past. Others have questions about Christianity or have been away from church for years. Perhaps you’ve experienced disappointment in a previous church.
Whatever your circumstances, taking a step towards fellowship can be a good place to begin. Jesus invited people to follow Him while they were still learning and changing.
โCome unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.โ โ Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
At BCICHURCH, our desire is to point people towards Jesus Christ and encourage them to grow in their relationship with Him. Come ready to learn, worship, pray, and discover more about God’s Word. You don’t need to pretend to have all the answers. Begin with the faith you have today and allow God to continue working in your life.
4. How Can You Grow Through Christian Fellowship?
1. Make gathering with other believers a priority
Choose to attend church regularly rather than treating fellowship as something you do only when convenient. Regular attendance helps you become familiar with God’s Word, develop relationships, and establish healthy spiritual habits.
2. Participate in prayer
Prayer is an important part of Christian fellowship. When believers pray together, they bring their concerns before God, express gratitude, and seek His wisdom. You don’t need impressive words to pray. Speak honestly to God, remember others’ prayer requests, and encourage fellow believers during the week.
3. Listen to God’s Word and apply it
โBut be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.โ โ James 1:22 (KJV)
When you hear a teaching, ask yourself: What does this Scripture teach me about God? Is there an attitude or habit I need to change? How can I apply this truth in my family, workplace, or community? What practical step can I take this week?
4. Build genuine relationships
Introduce yourself to someone after the service. Ask another believer how they’re doing. Offer encouragement when someone shares a challenge. Healthy Christian relationships grow through kindness, honesty, respect, and consistency. Start with simple conversations and allow relationships to develop naturally.
5. Look for opportunities to serve
Christian fellowship isn’t only about what you receive. It’s also about what you contribute. You may be able to encourage someone, help with a church activity, welcome a visitor, share your skills, or pray for a person going through a difficult season. Ask God how you can use your gifts to bless others and contribute to the work of His Kingdom.
5. Fellowship Can Strengthen Families and Communities
Domboshava and its surrounding communities are made up of people with different stories, responsibilities, dreams, and challenges. Families are raising children, young people are making decisions about their futures, and individuals are navigating relationships, work, education, and personal responsibilities.
Christian fellowship gives us opportunities to learn biblical principles that influence how we live. Through God’s Word, we can learn about forgiveness, patience, integrity, compassion, responsible stewardship, and love for our neighbours.
โAnd be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.โ โ Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)
These changes don’t happen automatically because someone attends church. They require a willingness to hear God’s Word and put it into practice. But fellowship can give us opportunities to learn, grow, and encourage one another. Our communities need people who live out their faith through love, honesty, service, and compassion.
Your spiritual growth can influence more than your personal life. It can also shape how you treat the people around you.
