How to Renew Your Mind with the Word of God (Part 10 of 10): Living the Renewed Life

This is Part 10 of a 10-part series, How to Renew Your Mind: Word of God.

We started with one verse and one promise. Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2). Over nine parts we’ve looked at why the mind matters, where the battle is, and the tools God gave us. Today we put it together so it becomes a way of life and not a nine-day project.

The Inward Man Is Renewed Daily

For which cause we faint not, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16). Day by day. Renewing isn’t finished by a sermon or a series. It’s a daily practice, like eating. You don’t eat once and never again.

The Series in One Glance

  1. Know why: Your mind steers your life (Romans 12:2).
  2. Know the fight: The mind is the battlefield (2 Corinthians 10:4).
  3. Hear: Faith comes by hearing the Word (Romans 10:17).
  4. Meditate: Stay with the verse until it sinks in (Joshua 1:8).
  5. Capture: Catch, check and change every thought (2 Corinthians 10:5).
  6. Replace: Swap lies for truth (John 8:32).
  7. Speak: Say what God says (Proverbs 18:21).
  8. Guard: Watch the gates of eye, ear and company (Proverbs 4:23).
  9. Rest: Cast your care and receive His peace (Philippians 4:6-7).

You Have the Mind of Christ

But we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). That’s the goal. Paul says, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). And he describes the process: But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). You aren’t renewing your mind alone. The Holy Spirit does the changing as you keep your eyes on Jesus.

A Simple Daily Rhythm

  • Morning: Read and hear a passage. Choose one verse to carry.
  • Through the day: Meditate on it, speak it, and answer opposing thoughts with it.
  • When anxious: Name it, give it, thank Him, think on truth.
  • Evening: Review your gates. What came in today, and what should be shut out tomorrow?

Be a Doer

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22). A renewed mind shows up in decisions, in how you treat your family, how you handle money, and how you respond when you’re misunderstood. And don’t quit when progress feels slow. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6:9).

Keep Growing With Us

If you’re in Harare or Domboshava, come and sit under the Word with us. Sunday Service is at 10AM at Mount Zion and 9AM in Domboshava, and Bible Study runs on Sundays, in person and online. Renewal grows best in community.

A Prayer to Close the Series

Father, thank You for Your Word and for the Holy Spirit who renews me. I choose to keep hearing, meditating, speaking and guarding. Make me more like Jesus every day, and let my renewed mind prove Your good, acceptable and perfect will, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thank you for walking through this series. Share it with someone who needs a renewed mind, and tell us which part helped you most.
