Who is Jesus Christ? This is not a small question. It is the question that determines what we believe about God, salvation, sin, grace and eternal life.
Jesus Christ is not merely a good teacher, a prophet or an example of kindness. Scripture reveals Him as the Son of God, the Word who became flesh, the One through whom all things were made, and the Savior of the world.
Jesus Is the Word Who Became Flesh
John 1:1 says, โIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.โ John later declares that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
Jesus did not begin to exist in Bethlehem. He came into the world in the flesh, but His identity reaches into eternity.
Jesus Is the Son of God
When Peter confessed, โThou art the Christ, the Son of the living Godโ (Matthew 16:16), Jesus affirmed the significance of that revelation.
To know Jesus is not simply to know facts about a historical person. It is to encounter the One Scripture identifies as Lord and Christ.
Jesus Is the Savior
Matthew 1:21 says that He would save His people from their sins. The cross was not an accident. Christ gave Himself for us, and His resurrection declares His victory.
That is why the Gospel is good news. We are not asked to save ourselves. We are called to repent, believe in Christ and receive the salvation God gives through Him.
Jesus Is the Way
Jesus said in John 14:6, โI am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.โ
Hama yangu, do not reduce Jesus to a solution you use only when life becomes difficult. He is Lord. He deserves your faith, your obedience and your whole life.
If you have been far from God, come back to Christ. If you have never surrendered your life to Him, today is a good day to call upon Him.
Jesus Christ is Lord, Savior, Truth and Life.
