The Prayer Challenge: 7 Days to Build a Stronger Prayer Life

7 Days to Build a Stronger Prayer Life

Prayer isn’t something we do only when we’re in trouble.

Prayer is relationship.

Prayer is communication with God.

Prayer is where we bring our hearts before Him, seek His will, receive strength, and learn to trust Him.

Jesus said:

โ€œMen ought always to pray, and not to faint.โ€
Luke 18:1 KJV

The problem isn’t always that we don’t know how to pray.

Sometimes the problem is that we don’t remain consistent.

We pray for a few days, then stop.

We pray when there’s an emergency, then become distracted when things improve.

We make promises to God, but struggle to maintain a disciplined prayer life.

That’s why we’re starting the BCICHURCH Prayer Challenge.

For the next 7 days, we’re going to become intentional about prayer.

๐Ÿ”ฅ WHAT IS THE PRAYER CHALLENGE?

The Prayer Challenge is a simple 7-day commitment to spend intentional time with God every day.

You don’t need to be a preacher.

You don’t need to know complicated prayers.

You don’t need perfect words.

You simply need a willing heart.

Jesus taught:

โ€œBut thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret.โ€
Matthew 6:6 KJV

Prayer starts with making time for God.

WHY SHOULD YOU PRAY?

Because prayer keeps your relationship with God alive.

Prayer gives you an opportunity to:

  • Talk to God
  • Thank God
  • Worship God
  • Ask for wisdom
  • Confess your sins
  • Intercede for others
  • Seek God’s direction
  • Bring your needs before Him
  • Strengthen your faith

Prayer isn’t a magic formula.

It’s not about trying to manipulate God into giving us everything we want.

Jesus taught us to pray:

โ€œThy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.โ€
Matthew 6:10 KJV

Prayer teaches us to bring our desires under God’s will.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DAY 1: PRAY FOR YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Start with God.

Before asking for money.

Before asking for a breakthrough.

Before asking for an open door.

Before asking God to change somebody else.

Ask God to change you.

Spend time thanking Him for salvation.

Ask Him to increase your hunger for His presence.

Ask Him to help you know Him more deeply.

Read:

Psalm 63:1

โ€œO God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.โ€

Today’s Prayer

Father, draw me closer to You. Give me a hunger for Your presence and Your Word. Help me seek You before I seek everything else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DAY 2: PRAY FOR YOUR FAMILY

Your family needs your prayers.

Pray for your spouse.

Pray for your children.

Pray for your parents.

Pray for your siblings.

Pray for relatives who may be struggling.

Don’t only talk about their problems.

Talk to God about them.

Joshua declared:

โ€œAs for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.โ€
Joshua 24:15 KJV

Today’s Prayer

Father, I place my family before You. Protect them, guide them and draw every member of my family closer to You. Give us peace, wisdom and unity. Let our home honour You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DAY 3: PRAY FOR YOUR FUTURE

You don’t know everything that is ahead.

God does.

That’s why you should pray about your future.

Ask God for wisdom.

Ask Him to order your steps.

Ask Him to close doors that aren’t right for you.

Ask Him to open the doors that align with His purpose.

The Bible says:

โ€œIn all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.โ€
Proverbs 3:6 KJV

Don’t make every decision without God and then ask Him to bless it afterward.

Invite Him into the process.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I surrender my future to You. Order my steps. Give me wisdom concerning my decisions, relationships, opportunities and purpose. Lead me according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DAY 4: PRAY FOR YOUR CHURCH

The local church needs praying people.

Pray for your pastors.

Pray for ministers.

Pray for leaders.

Pray for volunteers.

Pray for young people.

Pray for families.

Pray for new believers.

Pray for those who have stopped attending.

Pray for souls to be saved.

Paul repeatedly asked believers to pray.

โ€œBrethren, pray for us.โ€
1 Thessalonians 5:25 KJV

Never underestimate what happens when God’s people pray.

Today’s Prayer

Father, strengthen Your Church. Give our leaders wisdom, purity and courage. Save souls. Restore families. Raise disciples. Let Your presence be evident in our gatherings and outreach. Use BCICHURCH to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DAY 5: PRAY FOR SOMEONE WHO NEEDS JESUS

Think of one person who doesn’t know Jesus.

Write their name down.

Now pray for them.

Don’t judge them.

Don’t condemn them.

Intercede for them.

Ask God to open their heart.

Ask God to send the right people into their life.

Ask God to give you an opportunity to share the Gospel.

Jesus said:

โ€œFor the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.โ€
Luke 19:10 KJV

Today’s Challenge

Don’t stop at prayer.

Reach out to that person.

Send them a message.

Call them.

Invite them to church.

Share your testimony.

Sometimes your obedience becomes the answer to someone’s prayer.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DAY 6: PRAY ABOUT YOUR NEEDS

God cares about what concerns you.

You can bring your needs before Him.

Your finances.

Your work.

Your business.

Your studies.

Your relationships.

Your health.

Your decisions.

Your responsibilities.

Paul wrote:

โ€œBut in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.โ€
Philippians 4:6 KJV

Notice the instruction:

Pray.

Ask.

Give thanks.

Don’t carry everything alone.

Bring it to God.

Today’s Prayer

Father, You know everything I need. I bring my concerns before You today. Give me wisdom, provide what I need, strengthen me and help me trust You. Teach me to depend on You instead of being controlled by fear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DAY 7: PRAY WITHOUT GIVING UP

This is where many people struggle.

They pray.

They don’t see immediate results.

Then they stop.

But Jesus taught His disciples:

โ€œMen ought always to pray, and not to faint.โ€
Luke 18:1 KJV

Don’t give up simply because you haven’t seen the answer yet.

There are things you may need to continue praying about.

Continue seeking God.

Continue trusting Him.

Continue obeying His Word.

But remember, persistent prayer doesn’t mean demanding a particular outcome from God.

It means remaining faithful in relationship with Him while trusting His wisdom and timing.

Today’s Prayer

Father, give me perseverance in prayer. Help me remain faithful when answers seem delayed. Teach me to trust Your timing and Your wisdom. I refuse to abandon my relationship with You because of a difficult season. I will continue to seek You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE PRAYER CHALLENGE RULES

For these seven days, make these commitments.

1. SET A SPECIFIC PRAYER TIME

Don’t leave prayer to chance.

Choose a time.

Morning.

Lunch.

Evening.

Or another time that works for you.

Put it on your schedule.

2. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY

Distractions can destroy your concentration.

When you pray, give God your attention.

Turn off unnecessary notifications.

Find a quiet place.

Focus.

3. PRAY WITH YOUR BIBLE

Don’t only speak.

Read God’s Word.

Let Scripture shape your prayers.

When you find a promise or instruction, pray about it.

4. KEEP A PRAYER JOURNAL

Write down:

What am I praying for?

What Scripture am I standing on?

What is God teaching me?

What answers have I seen?

Over time, you’ll be able to look back and see God’s faithfulness.

5. PRAY FOR OTHER PEOPLE

Don’t make your prayer life completely about yourself.

Intercede.

Pray for your family.

Pray for your church.

Pray for leaders.

Pray for your community.

Pray for people who don’t know Jesus.

๐Ÿ”ฅ DON’T WAIT FOR A CRISIS TO PRAY

One of the greatest mistakes believers make is waiting for trouble before developing a prayer life.

Build your prayer life before the storm.

Jesus prayed.

The apostles prayed.

The early Church prayed.

The Bible repeatedly calls believers to prayer.

Prayer should become part of your lifestyle.

Not just your emergency plan.

๐Ÿ”ฅ WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BECOME CONSISTENT?

Consistency changes you.

You become more aware of God’s presence.

You become more sensitive to His Word.

You learn to surrender your plans.

You develop spiritual discipline.

Your faith grows.

You become more willing to intercede for others.

You begin to understand that prayer isn’t simply about getting things from God.

Prayer is about knowing God.

๐Ÿ”ฅ YOUR 7-DAY PRAYER COMMITMENT

Say this:

For the next 7 days, I will make time for God.

I will pray.

I will read His Word.

I will pray for my family.

I will pray for my church.

I will pray for people who need Jesus.

I will bring my needs before God.

I will listen for His direction.

I will not give up because of delay.

I will trust God’s wisdom and timing.

Prayer will not be my last option.

Prayer will become part of my lifestyle.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

๐Ÿ™ FINAL PRAYER

Father,

Teach me to pray.

Remove spiritual laziness from my life.

Give me discipline.

Give me hunger.

Give me consistency.

Help me seek You when things are good and when things are difficult.

Help me stop treating prayer like an emergency button.

Let prayer become my lifestyle.

Give me compassion for people who need Jesus.

Make me an intercessor.

Make me someone who stands in the gap.

Help me hear Your voice through Your Word.

Give me wisdom to know Your will.

And when I don’t understand what You’re doing, help me trust You.

I surrender my plans.

I surrender my future.

I surrender my family.

I surrender my church.

I surrender my desires.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ ACCEPT THE PRAYER CHALLENGE

Don’t just read this blog.

Do the challenge.

Choose your prayer time today.

Get your Bible.

Get a notebook.

Find a quiet place.

And begin.

Day 1 starts today.

Then share the challenge with someone else.

You might be the reason another person starts praying again.
