THE FIRE DISCIPLE — SEASON 1: IDENTITY & FOUNDATION
Lesson 7: Baptism in the Holy Spirit and His Role
Jesus told His disciples to wait for the promise of the Father. Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me.”
The Holy Spirit is not merely an experience. He is the Spirit of God who works in the believer. He teaches, guides, convicts, empowers and produces spiritual fruit.
We should avoid two extremes. We should not reduce the Holy Spirit to emotion, and we should not treat Him as a distant theological idea. Scripture presents a living relationship with the Spirit of God.
Power for witness
The promise of power was connected to mission. The Holy Spirit equips ordinary believers to bear witness to Jesus. The Spirit also works within us, shaping our character and teaching us to walk in obedience.
Seek God sincerely. Read Scripture carefully. Pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you into truth and obedience.
