Biblical submission is not permission for abuse, manipulation or the silencing of a woman. It is part of God’s design for a marriage where both husband and wife walk under the Lordship of Christ.
Ephesians 5:21 begins with a powerful principle: “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
The biblical picture of marriage includes love, sacrifice, honour and mutual responsibility. A husband is commanded to love sacrificially. A wife is called to respect and submit within God’s order. Both are accountable to Christ.
A woman does not lose her voice because she is married. Wisdom, communication and godly counsel matter. Where there is danger or abuse, seek safety and appropriate help.
Healthy marriage is not a competition for power. It is two people learning to serve God and one another.
Challenge: Pray for your marriage or future marriage and ask God to develop Christlike character in both husband and wife.
Prayer: Lord, teach us to build marriages that honour Christ, protect dignity and reflect Your love. Amen.
