Key Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:13, 18 (KJV)
โAnd when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;โ
โBut thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.โ
Don’t Confuse the Channel With the Source
There is a danger that comes with success. When life begins to work, when the business grows, when money starts coming in, when people begin to respect you and your name starts opening doors, you can slowly forget the One who made it possible.
You begin to think you are the reason everything is working.
You worked hard. You made sacrifices. You studied. You prayed. You took risks. You deserve to be proud of your effort.
But who gave you the strength to work? Who gave you the mind to think? Who gave you the opportunity you didn’t create? Who kept you alive to see another day?
Never let your achievements make you forget your Source.
God Gave You the Power
Deuteronomy 8:18 says God gives us the power to get wealth.
Notice that God doesn’t only provide money directly. He can give you the ability, wisdom, strength, ideas, discipline and opportunities through which you earn it.
Your job may be the channel, but God is your Source. Your business may be the channel, but God is your Source. Your customers may be the channel, but God is your Source.
The people who help you may be channels of God’s provision, but don’t worship the channels. Honour people, value relationships and treat everyone with respect, but keep your trust in God.
A channel can change. A job can end. A customer can leave. A business can face difficult seasons. But your faith must not collapse every time a channel changes.
Don’t Become Arrogant About What You Give
Some people give their tithe and begin to feel as though God owes them everything. Others look at what they give and forget how much they have received.
The truth is simple: your tithe is not proof that God belongs to you. It’s one expression of your worship, obedience and gratitude to Him.
If you give ten percent, remember that the hundred percent you manage also comes with a responsibility to honour God.
Your giving should never make you arrogant. It should make you grateful. And generosity is not a licence to despise those who give less or those who are struggling. Give faithfully, manage your resources wisely, and never use your giving to measure your superiority over another person.
Success Is a Test of the Heart
It’s easy to pray when you have nothing. It’s easy to cry out to God when the bills are unpaid, when the doors are closed and when you don’t know where the next breakthrough will come from.
But what happens when the prayer is answered?
What happens when you finally buy that car? When your business grows? When your family moves into a better home? When the church begins to grow and people start celebrating your leadership?
Will you still pray? Will you still serve? Will you still honour God when you no longer feel desperate?
Sometimes the greatest test of your faith is not what you do when you are in need. It’s what you do when you have more than enough.
Don’t let the blessing take the place of the One who blessed you.
Remember Your Source in Practical Ways
- Give God the glory. Don’t tell your story as though you carried yourself through every season. Acknowledge His grace.
- Remain faithful in prayer. Don’t abandon the altar because your business is doing well.
- Practise generosity. Use what God has entrusted to you to bless people, support the work of God and meet genuine needs.
- Manage your money with wisdom. Faith is not an excuse for careless spending. Budget, save, plan and be accountable.
- Stay humble. Never treat people badly because your financial position has changed.
- Keep your heart free from the love of money. Money is a tool. It is not your identity, your god or your ultimate security.
Champions Remember Their Source
Real champions don’t just celebrate their victories. They remember what brought them through.
They remember the prayers, the lessons, the people who stood with them and, above all, the grace of God.
You can grow without becoming proud. You can prosper without becoming selfish. You can lead without becoming arrogant. You can have more without loving God less.
Final Word
Never become so big in your own eyes that you forget the God who gave you life.
When your silver and gold multiply, remember the Lord. When your business succeeds, remember the Lord. When your ministry grows, remember the Lord. When your family prospers, remember the Lord.
You are a steward, not the ultimate owner. What you have is an opportunity to honour God and serve others.
Discover your real Source. Honour the channel, but worship God. Celebrate the blessing, but never forget the Blesser.
Prayer
Father, thank You for everything You have entrusted to me. Forgive me for the times I have taken Your goodness for granted. Give me a humble heart, wisdom to manage what I have, and grace to remain faithful in every season. As You bless the work of my hands, help me never to forget You. Let my life, resources and success bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
