The Truth About Jesus Christ

Who is Jesus Christ?

This is not a small question. It is the question that determines what we believe about God, salvation, sin, grace and eternal life.

Jesus Christ is not merely a good teacher, a prophet or an example of kindness. Scripture reveals Him as the Son of God, the Word who became flesh, the One through whom all things were made and the Savior of the world.

Jesus is the Word who became flesh

John 1:1 says:

โ€œIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.โ€

John 1:14 then says:

โ€œAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.โ€

Jesus did not begin to exist in Bethlehem. He came into the world in the flesh, but His identity reaches into eternity.

He is the eternal Word who came among us so that we could know God and receive grace and truth through Him.

Jesus is the Son of God

When Peter confessed, โ€œThou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,โ€ Jesus did not correct him. He affirmed that this revelation came from the Father.

Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One, the Son of the living God.

To know Jesus is not simply to know facts about a historical person. It is to encounter the One Scripture identifies as Lord and Christ.

Jesus is the Savior

Matthew 1:21 says:

โ€œAnd she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.โ€

The name Jesus is connected to His mission. He came to save.

The cross was not an accident. Christ gave Himself for us. He bore sin, defeated death and rose again in victory.

That is why the Gospel is good news. We are not asked to save ourselves. We are called to repent, believe in Christ and receive the salvation God gives through Him.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life

Jesus said in John 14:6:

โ€œI am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.โ€

Jesus did not say He would merely show us one possible way. He said He is the way.

He did not say He would give us one version of truth. He said He is the truth.

He did not say He would improve our lives only for a season. He said He is the life.

Hama yangu, do not reduce Jesus to a solution you use only when life becomes difficult. He is Lord. He deserves your faith, your obedience and your whole life.

Jesus is the image of the invisible God

Colossians 1:15โ€“17 teaches that Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, and that all things were created through Him and for Him.

This means Jesus is not disconnected from the work of creation. He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.

When you look at Jesus, you are not looking at a man who is disconnected from God. You are seeing the One who reveals God to us.

What must we do with Jesus?

We must believe in Him.

We must repent of sin.

We must submit to His Lordship.

We must follow His Word.

We must not admire Jesus from a distance while refusing to obey Him.

If you have been far from God, come back to Christ.

If you have never surrendered your life to Him, today is a good day to call upon Him.

Jesus Christ is Lord, Savior, Truth and Life.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Forgive my sins, save me and take Your rightful place in my life. Teach me to walk in Your truth, obey Your Word and follow You faithfully. In Jesusโ€™ name, amen.
